Now things get more interesting.  I have to say my hat goes off to you wonderful pattern designers after last week.  I wrote that very basic one and I found it soo hard!

This week we will be working up this 30 cm (12″) beauty by Dayna’s Crochet.

I have translated Dayna’s pattern into UK terms, with permission.   Please read the “Notes” below before you start.

Notes

Beginners

Don’t be scared!  If you managed last week, you CAN do this.  It’s all the same stitches, just in a different combination.  Take it slow, doing each small set of stitches one at a time.    Have a highlighter handy and mark each stitch section off as you go. The only thing that is slightly different is the htr (hdc) – its just like a tr (dc), but you skip pulling the yarn through 2 loops – you pull through all three loops and its done. And the dtr (tr) – you wrap the yarn around twice before poking it through.  Look up this website for instructions or search you tube.  You CAN do it.  Honest. 🙂

Border

Once your square is 3o cm (12″) add the border of dc (sc) as we did last week, trying for the same number of stitches.

Block 3 US Version

Please read the Notes above before you begin.  The US terms pattern can be found here on Dayna’s blog, or if you’d rather go via Ravelry so you can add it to your projects, go here.

If you have any trouble with the  block, visit the Krista Crochet Group on Facebook or the Ravelry In a Spin Group and I am sure we can help each other out.

Block 3 Charted Version

Some weeks, Sharon of Knits N’ Everything Fibre will be converting the weekly pattern into a chart when the designers give their permission.  Dayna has done that and so here is the chart for the pattern.

After the Kick off Notes

A couple of folks are already right into this one. Here are a couple of tips that may help :

A larger hook may be required.  If it’s only a little bit smaller then just do an extra row or two of round 10.  Think it’s due to original being in worsted which is heavier than most of us are using.

Also for the beginners –  For those of you who aren’t sure – in round 6, 8 and 9 where it says slip stitch to corner, you will need to put a slip stitch into the two stitches before the corner first and then into the corner space

Thanks Nikki and Eva!

Once you’re done, don’t forget to share your blocks on instagram tagging  #inaspincal, the In a Spin CAL flickr group or the Krista Crochet Group on Facebook because I’ll be sharing some of your work here next week 🙂

I hope you enjoy making up this one.  Don’t be surprised if we visit Dayna again on our crochet adventure.  She has some lovely patterns.  See you next week!
